Subject: Ten Days In – to a Defining Election

Friends:

The summer ‘election that nobody wanted’ is here and positive trends are emerging. I know many for whom this couldn’t come soon enough. The distaste for this Liberal government misdirection has my friends, family, and supporters chomping at the bit to throw this group out of office. Their inability to execute has never been more clearly shown than in the tragedy that is unfolding for our friends that worked beside us in Afghanistan and will now be left to the mercies of a vengeful regime.

Transparency and accountability are contrary to the Liberal regime. The abuse of Canadian democracy has also been palpable – even more so last week, when the Attorney General of Canada withdrew his lawsuit against the House of Commons, withholding documents requested by Parliament regarding the National Health Research Laboratory in Winnipeg. This lawsuit was beyond any norms of our Canadian democracy, and I believe would have been handled quickly by any objective Court; nevertheless, its filing was an affront. Its immediate withdrawal after the dissolution of Parliament shows the Government’s clear intent to obfuscate.

This Government must be replaced. Our party’s leadership under Erin O’Toole shows we are prepared to govern. Our platform is on track for Canadians.

Now let’s talk about Calgary Centre.

We need to work this riding hard during the election. We know what happens when our voters do not show up. Calgary Centre will either be a footstool for the Trudeau Liberals, or it will be part of the Conservative team that will lead Canada forward.

Canvassing is going very well and I’m having engaging conversations with constituents. There is some displeasure with government expressed at the doors – responses to the pandemic; economic lockdowns; inflation – especially for those on fixed incomes; and income uncertainty – all of which has people increasingly concerned.

Let’s keep in mind that this election has one of two outcomes for Canada: a Trudeau government; or an O’Toole government.  If you need to be reminded of what is at stake in that choice, please think of how far this country has regressed under the Liberal government.  That is why we must actively participate in turning it around.

This always requires work – and as much as many think this is a sleeper summer campaign where not much will change – complacency is our enemy.

I would love to see you out knocking doors with me or delivering lawn signs or brochures. Talk to your neighbours; compare the candidates; look at the parties’ policies; think about how much Calgary Centre has contributed to our progress in the past two years – get engaged!

Two years ago, with an army of great volunteers we turned this riding into a strong Conservative seat. I still need that army!

Please join us!  I’m looking forward to a new government for Canada on September 20th.  And I need you to be part of that!

Thank you!

Greg
